The trial run of the metro may begin the last week of May after starting the power supply on the 4.973 km route. By the end of the year, the doors of the metro on this route can open to the general public.
Work in two phases
Construction work of Metro 9 is going on between Dahisar (East) to Meera Bhainder on a 13.5 km route. Due to lack of civil work of the entire route, MMRDA has planned to start service in two phases instead of starting service on a 13.5 km route simultaneously.
Dahisar (East) to Kashigaon
Under the first phase, a plan has been prepared to start a metro service between Dahisar (East) to Kashigaon metro station. There are four metro stations on the 4.973 km route of the first phase. Civil work of the entire route of the Metro-9 Corridor has been completed up to 95 percent. Last month, MMRDA has started the trial run of the metro between the Mandala of Metro-B to the Diamond Garden Metro Station. Metro service is expected to begin on this route by the end of the year.

The metro-9 corridor is connected to the metro 7 and Dahisar (East) to Andheri (West) between Dahisar (East) to Andheri (East). After the opening of the entire route of Metro-9, passengers will be able to travel in the metro from Meera Bhayander to Andheri. The Karshed of Metro-9 has not been prepared yet. Because of this, MMRDA has planned to maintain the maintenance of the Metro-9 rake from Charkop Depot. Currently, the rakes of the Metro-7 and Metro-2A corridor are maintained from Charkop Depot.
Pressure to start service soon
Construction of the Metro-9 corridor has been going on since 2019. Services were to start on the entire route by October 2024. Metro service has not yet started due to other reasons, including delay in construction work. At the same time, due to the ongoing construction work, local citizens are facing traffic jams. In order to bring the path to the citizens, MMRDA is now working on a plan to start service on the same route instead of the entire route. Similarly, a plan has been prepared to run metro in some parts of Metro-2B and Metro 4 this year.
