The Enforcement Directorate had investigated and filed an FIR in the matter of loss of revenue to the government through fake challans and now further action is being taken. Liquor traders and excise officers have been accused that some liquor contractors have damaged the revenue of crores to the government through fake challans and documents with the connivance of the officers. All this disturbance took place between FY 2015-16 to 2017-18. These contractors also obtained NOC (NOC) to buy liquor through fake challans. (ED RAID)

The ED has come to know in the investigation that liquor contractors used to tamper with the challans and the amount in the challan was filled in digits, but where the amount is written in words, it was left empty. After depositing the original amount in the bank, the contractors later filled the empty space in the copy of the challan. In this way, the amount lost to the government and the amount filled in the challan was different. There has been a scam of about 71 crores in this scam.
