There are often reports of a large number of people being killed and injured due to lack of proper management of traffic, not being able to control the crowd in religious sites, events, festivals, a large number of people being killed, injuries. But surprisingly, no lesson is taken from them. Even in the same places, similar accidents are seen happening again. The accident occurred in a temple in Goa is the latest example of this. On Saturday, six people died due to stampede at that temple festival, while seventy people were injured.
The preliminary investigation of the incident has revealed that the place where the accident took place was narrow and the road was sloping. Some people standing on the slope fell unbalanced and fell down, causing a stampede and six people died. It is being told that a similar incident took place in the same place last year, but it is a matter of honor that there was no casualties in it. Police say the organizers tried to stop the crowd, appealed to the people not to move forward, but they did not agree and the incident happened.
Although the real cause of the incident will be known after the investigation report, the temple management failed to control the crowd. Forty to fifty thousand people have gathered there. However, this is not a new experience. The main reason behind the accidents in most religious events is the negligence of their organizers.
Before any event, its preparations have to be told to the police, then she makes security arrangements accordingly. But in most such events, negligence is taken on it and it is assumed that devotees themselves will behave under control. But, this does not happen.
Most temples, places around religious places are narrow. The older as the temple is, the less space is seen for the movement of devotees. Then, those selling flowers, garlands etc. on those paths make their shops and make the paths more narrow. The same situation was seen in the temple of Goa. In such a situation, when there is chaos, people are uncontrolled for some reason, then the risk of killing people increases in it.
Such facts are usually not hidden from temple managers, celebrations. When they know that the number of devotees is increasing, then why proper arrangements are not made to enter and get out. Why volunteers are not standing in sensitive places in terms of accident, who instruct the devotees to be vigilant and move forward.
One of the major reasons for not getting success in preventing such incidents, not making the organizers, temple managers responsible is that after such an accident, their accountability is often not fixed. Ultimately, it is the responsibility of the police to prevent ignoring security standards in any event. But after every accident, this question is forgotten.
