What is the anti -tank guided missile (ATGM)?
Anti-tank guided missile (ATGM) is “guided”, which means that they can be run or locked on a target. This is the reason why these old anti-tank targets more accurate than weapons. These can be fired with shoulders, vehicles and aircraft. The specialty of anti-tank guided missile is that soldiers can destroy enemy armored vehicles from safe distance.
How does the tank blow?
Anti-tank guided missile (ATGM) uses special explosives, which are shaped. It focuses all its strength in one direction. Explosives are so powerful that thick tanks can distinguish the armor.Tendom warheads are used in many modern ATGMS. This means that they have two explosions.
The first explosion hits and activates the outer security shield (Era) of the tank. Era is designed to prevent missiles by exploding from outside. At the same time, the second explosion occurs right after that and breaks the main armor of the tank. In this way, it has the power to fly away of armored vehicles and tanks.
Day or night, anytime worth using
The anti-tank guided missile is designed to work both day and night. This is the reason why it can be used anytime. Many anti-tank guided missiles have also been given ‘Top-Atac’ mode, due to which they can attack the tank from above, where they are the weakest. Many modern ATGM contains equipment called Sikar which helps them to find and follow their goal more accuracy.
Can it be stopped?
Some tanks use reactive armor, which is a special plate, it burst out to stop the missile. Some countries use slat armor, which is a metal cage. It can spoil the missile fuse and blow it quickly. In this way an attempt is made to stop the ATGM.
