Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday dismissed reports of Pakistani citizens being suspected or identified in the state, saying that all Pakistani citizens had been identified. Fadnavis said that arrangements are being made to expel Pakistani citizens from the state as per the instructions of the Center.
Talking to reporters, Fadnavis said, “As the State Home Minister, I request you not to run any wrong news on this issue.” No Pakistani citizen is suspected in Maharashtra and all have been detected. Arrangements have been made to send them all and no Pakistani citizen will be left in the state. Everyone will be sent back to this evening or tomorrow. ''
Chief Minister Fadnavis said this while participating in a program of Pune Municipal Corporation. The Government of India has announced the cancellation of all visas of Pakistani citizens from 27 April. The decision was taken after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on 22 April, killing 26 people, mostly tourists. After this attack, tension between the two countries has increased.
The Maharashtra Police has launched a campaign to identify Pakistani citizens living across the state on various visas. Regarding the water situation in the state, Fadnavis said, “Water storage in dams is less in April and May. Water harvesting is planned. Currently, water harvesting in all dams in the state is 38 percent. ''
