The years old tradition is still being followed in Tharu -dominated Naurangia village in Bagaha, West Champaran, Bihar, where people of the entire village go to one day exile every year. You must have been surprised to hear this, but this is true. The people of this village are still celebrating the tradition more than 100 years old. On the day of Sita Navami, all the people, children, women of the village leave their home for one day and go to the forest. Why do you do this? I know…
Actually, this is done according to a belief, which the people of the village have been celebrating for more than 100 years. The whole village becomes deserted on the day this tradition is celebrated. And it is called ‘exile’.
Tradition is 100 years old
It is believed that about 100 years ago, the people of the village were facing epidemic and other disasters. People were taking different measures to avoid arson and other problems, but no relief was seen. At the same time, a Baba Paramahansa Das said that he had a dream, in which it has been said that if the villagers leave the village for a day and go to the forest, then they will get rid of all the problems. According to Baba, the villagers left the village for a day and went to the forest. Since then, this tradition started and is being played till date.
Did the local people say?
The head of the village Sunil Mahato said that earlier there were frequent fire incidents in the village. One night someone in a dream to Baba Paramahamsa Das said that the village should be shocked for a day. Since then these traditions have been playing the village. By doing this, peace remains in the village.
At the same time, the rural woman said that we do not remember when this tradition has been going on, but ever since they are doing this, big disasters have not come in the village. Every year we come to the forest from the village in the morning and return to our village in the evening. We cook and worship in the forest itself. On this day, no one stops in the village.
