Railway Exam Mangalasutra dispute
Mangaluru: Recently, a student was prevented from appearing in the CET examination due to his life, which created a dispute in the entire state. Now a similar case has also come up in the railway department examination. Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has issued instructions for the examination for the post of Nursing Superintendent, in which the wearing religious symbols like Mangalsutra and Janivar has been banned inside the examination center. It is clearly written in the admit card that candidates will have to remove these things.
Clear instructions in the admit card, resentment raised
The examination for the post of Nursing Superintendent of the Railway Department will be held on 29 April in Besant Vidyake of Bondel. It is clearly written in its admit card that the examination center will not be allowed to wear mangalsutra and life. Hindu organizations have expressed their displeasure over this order. The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has demanded that the decision be canceled immediately.
Hindu organizations expressed protest, religious sentiments hurt
Many organizations including Vishwa Hindu Parishad say that such an order has hurt religious sentiments of crores of Hindus. Organizations say that such policies cannot be tolerated in a Hindu -dominated country like India. They want to give full exemption to take the exam with religious symbols so that no one’s faith is hurt.
Information given to Railway Minister, asked for solution
In view of the protest against this rule in the railway examination, South Kannada MP Brijesh Chauta informed Railway Minister V. Somanna about the whole matter. He pointed out the minister’s attention to the instructions given in the admit card and appealed to take this issue seriously. After this, Railway Minister Somanna ordered the officials of Railway Recruitment Board to withdraw the instructions to take off Mangalasutra and life.
Case echoed on Twitter, increased pressure
MP Brijesh Chauta also raised this issue on Twitter, due to which the matter became more in the news. He tweeted how the admit card has been ordered to remove religious symbols. There was a lot of opposition to this issue on Twitter and Hindu organizations demanded immediate intervention from the government.
Examination in many cities including Mangalore, deep controversy
This railway examination is being held at different centers across the country, including Besant Vidyakendra at Bondel, Mangalore. This rule has been implemented for the examination at this center. VHP leader Sharan Pumpuvel also reacted strongly to this and said that the Railway Department should respect Hindu religious sentiments.
