SIP breaks all records, inflow more than 26 thousand crores in a month

If you invest in a systematic investment plan (SIP), then this news can prove to be your work. SIP investment in India has set a new record. According to the report of Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI), in April 2025, a total of Rs 26,632 crore was recorded in mutual funds through SIP, which is the largest figure so far. During this period, about 8.38 crore investors participated in SIP, which shows that the popularity of SIP investment is increasing rapidly.

Equity funds decline, but SIP strengthens

While SIP made a new record in investment, on the other hand, the performance of equity funds was somewhat weak. In April 2025, the inflow in equity schemes came down to Rs 24,269 crore, which is the lowest level of the last 12 months. Inflow in small-cap schemes fell by 2.3% to Rs 3,999 crore, while mid-cap schemes also fell by 3.6%.

In contrast, large-cap funds saw a slight increase, where Inflow was Rs 2,671 crore. Investors’ tendency increased in sectoral and thematic funds, and a total inflow of Rs 2,001 crore was recorded. The special thing is that this increase has not happened due to any new NFO (New Fund Offer), but due to the increasing interest of investors.

Return of hybrid funds and fall in gold ETF

In April, a slight outflow was seen in Gold ETF, which was Rs 5.82 crore. The main reason for this is that investors booked profits at the highest level of gold. On the other hand, Hybrid Funds, especially Arabitraj Schemes, recorded an inflow of Rs 11,000 crore. This shows that hybrid funds are now becoming a safe ‘parking space’ for investors, where they can temporarily park their capital.

Indian investors are now investing wisely

AMFI’s data makes it clear that Indian investors have now become more intelligent. Instead of getting caught in the noise of social media or rumors, they are based on their investment on fundamentals. Even though the net inflow declined by 3.2% in April, equity AUM (Asset Under Management) has recorded a 4% increase in AUM and AUM of the entire mutual fund industry.

Now the total AUM of the mutual fund industry has reached a record level of Rs 69.9 lakh crore. This data proves that Indian investors are understanding the importance of long -term investment in SIPs and mutual funds and continue their investment without being affected by market instability.
